One year ago tonight...

....I was in a hospital bed snuggling with and getting to know my sweet baby girl. So new and fresh to this world, only hours old.  Wasn't that just 3 or 4 months ago?  Time is playing tricks on me again.  Today my Presley turned 1 year old.  We laughed, we played, we sang happy birthday at every meal (much to her delight),  we watched as she tore her cake apart and smooshed it thru her hair and played with her sisters, brother and cousins. It was the perfect way to spend a first birthday.  Celebrating and focused on the birthday girl all day long.

I have loved the ride this past year of having a baby again and watching all the firsts, for the last time.  I have savored each moment, knowing that it passes so quickly. And knowing that along with every one of her milestones we celebrated, there would be a bit of sadness knowing this was our last time to walk this road.  I was just thinking today how last year at this time she was just this tiny bundle of baby, not able to hold her head up or stay awake long enough to even attempt to nurse. Completely and totally dependent on me. And today, she was all over the house, cruising along the furniture, dumping all her toys and feasting on barbque chicken, green beans and mashed potatoes. What a difference a year makes!

Presley-girl, what can I say?  I love you from the tips of your fingers to the bottoms of your toes.  My third born daughter, you are precious. Full of life. Fiesty. Determined, yet laid back. A complete Daddy's girl.  Loved intensly by your brother and sisters. You are the completer of our family. God made you so special and perfect. In His image.  What a gift you are. I love being your mama. I'm so excited to live life with you and watch as you continue to grow in to the girl God has destined you to be.

So tonight, as you lay so peacefully in your crib sleeping and I reflect over this past year with you, I feel so unbelievably blessed to have been chosen to be your mom.  To be the one to tuck you in every night. To comfort you when your sad. Rejoice with you when your happy. To guide and protect you. To love you each and every moment of your life.  You are so special sweet girl.

  Happy 1st birthday  Peachy-pie.
