A Whole Lotta This and That

Three cheers for me and my new commitment to keeping up with this blog!  Woohoo! This is my fifth post within a two week time period. This has to be an all time record. :)  Anyhoo. My mind is filled with all kinds of random thoughts so here goes....

1.  I cannot believe that the calendar is being truthful with me when it says today is November 24th. Where in the world did this year go?  Didn't I JUST have a baby?  I think this seriously has been the fastest year of my life.   I cannot believe we are right here at the Holidays again.  Makes me want to be so much more intentional about being in the moment and enjoying each moment with the kids because life is speeding on by.

2. Tonight we are putting up our Christmas decorations! I can't wait! The kids have been asking for a few days now, and tonight is the first 'free' night we have to do it. I love, LOVE this time of year.  So much excitement in the air. And I love it even more experiencing with my kids and thru their eyes.

3. Miss Goosey has been so busy this week and its only Wednesday.  Sometimes all I can do is shake my head and laugh.  Monday she decided nap time is overrated and decided to pass on it. I kept putting her in her room and every 10 minutes her little face would appear between the railing of the stairs begging to get up. I told her no, laid her back down, she would come back down. This cycle repeated all afternoon. Anyway, she never ended up going to sleep and once the other kids woke up I let her get up. So that night as I am tucking her in bed and going to turn out the light,  this beauty caught my eye.
Thats right, red crayon all over her walls. What a masterpiece! Our budding artist carried her artwork throughout the house for all of us to enjoy. Down the stairway...
And a little diddy on the bannister, too!

She is something else.   I guess she got bored when she was protesting nap and let the creative juices flow.
She is far and away the most mischievious child we have.  Into something ALL the time!   I still haven't cleaned it off. I figure if she worked so hard creating it we should at least enjoy it a few days.  All I have to say is thank goodness for the Magic Eraser!

Tuesday night I was walking by our downstairs bathroom and out of the corner of my eye I saw Kensi leaning over the toilet with her hands down in it. Nice. I asked what in the world she was doing and she turns around and is rubbing her soapy hands together and says " I can't weach the water to winse the soap off my hands." Classic.  She was just rinsing off in the toilet. Nothing wrong with that.  One of the hardest things about parenting Kensi right now is trying to not laugh while I should be correcting her....ack! She is so funny and she has (in her mind) such a good reason for all these crazy things she does.

Speaking of funny, this ones a doozy.  Whenever Kensi needs to go #2 in the potty she always takes all of her clothes off. (I know this is a little TMI, but I'm sure the Goose will think this is funny when she's older).  I literally laughed until I cried the first time I went in and found her like this. Anyway, its just something she always does.  So the other night, we were at El Charro and Maddie and her needed to use the bathroom. So they ran ahead of me to the bathroom. When I got in there they were both already in each stall, so I went in the one Kensi was in to help her.  And to my surprise, there sat my girl naked as a jay bird....shoes, socks everything. Not one stitch of clothing was on her.  hahahahhaha . She is so crazy. Oh my goodness, I laughed so hard.  This girl just feels comfortable wherever she is. When she's got to take care of business, she just gets down to it. It doesn't matter where we are or whose there.

One more Kensi thing  and then I'll move on. Every night for the past few nights when I go in her room to kiss her one last time before I go to bed, I find her with no clothes on except her panties. I have to re-dress her in her sleep every. single. night.  It is so, so funny to us for some reason.  We ask her every morning why she does it and she says, " I just weally like sleeping with no clothes." Ha! What a girl!

4.  I have recently done a re-vamp and reorganization of my life and schedule and I'm loving it! I feel like I am getting done the stuff that has to get done and not constantly feeling like I'm playing catching up.  I love feeling organized  and having a plan.  I have found this year that I have felt overwhelmed with keeping up with all the kids and the house and just life in general.  I wish most days there were 26 hours in a day.So I'm thrilled with how smoothly things have gone the past few weeks with everything having a specific time to get done.

5.  Aaron's mom bought this little number for Miss Presley this week and I absolutely LOVE it. Its one of my all time favorite pieces.  I think she looks like a beautiful  little flower.  Its the little things in life that excite me.

6.  The other night during devotions, Aaron was worshipping with the kids.  Little Miss Pres got so into it! We were all struggling to not laugh the whole time.  She just sat on Aaron's guitar case and  was just  "squeal-singing"  as loud as she could and just squeezing her little fists together while singing. It was hilarious.

It was so funny and the kids were laughing so hard , which just delighted her. It was so cute.  Even thru the humor of it all, Aaron prayed that she would always have such a spirit of worship thru her whole life. And to that I say a great big AMEN!

Tommorrow is Thanksgiving.  Still not sure how it snuck up on us so fast.  Looking forward to watching parades, peeling potatoes and just enjoying family all day!  No early morning black friday shopping for us this year. :( Aaron has to work 6-2p and I am not crazy enough to go alone with 4 kids! Maybe we will go in the afternoon just for fun!  Kobe and I love our Black Friday shopping so we may just sneak some in.

We have so much to be thankful for.  We are so, so blessed. Happy Thanksgiving!

Black Friday '08

This year I decided I was going to brave the crowds and join in the fun of shopping the day after Thanksgiving. Not sure if I am brave or crazy, the jury is still out. I looked thru all the sales fliers, made a plan and went to bed early so I could get up at 3:30am and begin.

Kobe was so excited about the idea of getting up while it was still 'night' and going shopping, that he was begging to come with me. What a boy! So of course I wasn't going to turn down a shopping partner!

This is the note he taped to the outside of his door when he went to sleep...

It says : "Wake me up to go to the store Mommy! 4:00am. Wake me up to go to the store Mommy.! 4:00AM." That gave us a good laugh. He was so serious about going.

So we left the house about 3:45am and begun our trek! It was such a fun morning together. And we got so many awesome deals and saved soooo much money! The deals are just unbelievable. I got almost all my Christmas shopping done that morning...incredible! The Kobester was so fun to have along.

My theory on shopping on Black Friday is that if you are going to go, you just have to go with a fun attitude, expect to stand in long lines and be surrounded by 1 million people. If you go expecting all that, it reallly isn't that bad. And we didn't encounter any angry people or people fighting over the same thing or any of the other crazy things the news always reports on. People were nice and just laughed about the craziness of it all while we stood in lines. :)

The quote of the day would have to go to a dear man who was probably in his mid-fifities. We were in K-mart and to say it was a zoo is putting it mildly. Literally you couldn't walk, everything came to a stand still and you just had to wait to get into the toy department. He was dressed in cowboy boots and a flannel shirt and he just looked around shaking his head and said, "I gave up sitting in a tree stand hunting for all this." Me and Kobe laughed so hard at that. It was hilar!

Here is Kobe at 7am....looking alive!

Here is Kobe at 10am.....still holding strong after being up for 7 hrs already.

At 10:30 we ran back to the house to 'unload' our purchases and pick up the rest of the family. And we ALL headed out for round #2! We ended up shopping until 4pm.

Here is Kobe around 3:30p....starting to look a bit tired out, but still not bad!

After 12.5 hours of shopping and being out, we all headed home and crashed on the couch and watched a Christmas movie. Needless to say we were all completely out by 9pm that night. :)

It was such a fun day. And I loved how Kobe was so into it. His wife is going to love it if he stays this way when he gets older! :)

Some of my favorite Highlights from this Political Campaign

I for one, am glad that this political election is done. It was a hard fought campaign for the boys and I am sure that by the end of it they were as sick of it as we all were...hahaha. It seemed that by the end of October that was the only thing I heard about, read about, listened about....saw. You get the idea. Not because I was necessarily seeking it out (although I did alot of the time :), but just because it was everywhere. But to me this item just tells me how crazy this dang election was. It truely left no area untouched. When it gets down to this, you know both parties are desperate for a vote....

HAHAHHAHAHHA! I hope that makes you laugh as hard as it made me laugh. When politics start affecting our chewing gum, I say its time to take breather, fellas! My sweet friend Colleen brought this priceless gift over to me one day and I thought it was hilar!

Another favorite for me were these smoking, red hot shoes on Sara Palin...

Say What?!?! I don't care what your political persuasion is, you must admit seeing these bad boys on a VP pick was pretty sweet! And yes, just in case you were wondering, I absolutely loved all her wardrobe....all $150,000 of it, the girl was workin' it! :) A girl has to look good when she is on a national stage.

Although SNL was majorly slanted / biased, I so enjoyed their skits this season. Hilar! Every last one of them. But far and away, this was my favorite!

From Amy Pohler about to have that baby at any second, to Sara grooving out, I couldn't quit laughing! Simply brilliant!

Alright. I better stop while I am ahead. Hope you enjoyed my recap!

Just for Fun...

I saw this on a friend's site and did it. You know you are just sitting there bored with nothing else to do...so just do it!:) Be warned, its kinda addicting. And you get better and better every time you do it!
93 words

Speed test

I don't know what speed is good, but just wanted to say don't be too impressed with my 93 words a minute. I started at like 68 and did it a bunch of times and then got my 93. :) Just keepin it real, kids! The words you type they say are the most common words used in the English language....and one of them is Indian. Had no idea that was so commonly used. :) So take a little breaky from what you are doing and give it a try! :)

7 Random Things about me...

So I have been tagged by the beautiful Crystal to share 7 random things about myself. I am pretty sure I am the last of all tagged to finally get around to do this, but I am having a hard time thinking of 7 things, girls. Either I am an extremely boring person or this brain o' mine is puttering out on me. Ok, here goes...;)

1. I am a middle child. That probably explains a lot about me right there. ;) I have an older bro and sis and a younger bro and sis.

2. I went to 3 different highs schools...thats right, 3!!! I don't recommend that, I say go somewhere and stay put, people!

3. I once met Jean Claude Van Dam on the street in London. What i took away from that "meeting" was...he is a very short man.

4. I LOVE to read! And I am with Jolantha on this one, give me a fiction book and I can have it back to you the next day....anything else, you are going to be waiting a while. Sad but true. I believe Karen Kingsbury has moved into my fave author spot now. (Let me send a little shout out to all you "Baxter and Dayne & Katie" fans ;)). If you haven't read any of her books, well, you should. Start with the Redemption series. Its good stuff girls. I just call it like I see it.

5. #5 is I cannot believe I have already made it to number 5! I might be just a tad bit interesting after all...

6. Ok, this is a true story. When I was little I wanted to grow up and be...hold onto your hats...this is going to be a doozy....a back-up dancer! Thats right, I try and dream big. :) those people just look so cool with their moves. I still get a little twinge when I see them do a performance. One day....

7. And lastly, I will leave you with this bit of information....I love AI, otherwise known as American Idol. This year I am pulling for David Archilleto and Brook (can't remember her last name). And yes, i am also one of those losers that vote and here is a little secret i have discovered...if you start calling during the last performance, you get thru! I can't believe I am admitting this in such a public manner, but I got thru 17 times last week. You gotta call if you want your person to win, people!

So there are 7 random things about me. Don't you feel like you know me so much better?!? Girls, just know I can go deeper than all this. I just read it back and they seem a bit, shall we say, shallow, but its the best I could come up with at 11pm. Thanks Crystal for starting this little game! I have really enjoyed reading everyone's "randoms".

So, I tag all of you who are reading this and haven't done it yet...Gena, Tonya, Lauren, Windsor, Lisa, Jessie, Shar, Cheryl....and all you other "closet" readers. Come on, step up to the plate and do your part letting us in on some random facts. ;)

We went bowling last night...

...in our living room! My cousins came over last night with their Wii and we played all night. Its such great fun and you get a workout too!

Jonathan and Aaron duking it out in a game of boxing. I must say it is quite amusing watching them hit the air. Intense match! :)

Aaron and Kobe boxing. Guess who won????? thats right Sir Kobe took out his ole pops!;)

Here's Maddie doing a little bowling. She had so much fun and was actually really good!
I am not usually that fond of game systmes, but I have to say this is great family fun, especially for having to be inside so much thru the winter.
